Lung Cancer Symptoms



Lung Cancer symptoms may be different for everyone and sometimes these symptoms are so small they go unnoticed.  

Symptoms could include:

  • A cough that does not go away and gets worse over time
  • Loss of appetite and/or weight loss
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Constant chest pain, often made worse by deep breathing, coughing or laughing
  • Arm or shoulder pain
  • Coughing up blood or rust-colored spit
  • Shortness of breath, wheezing or hoarseness
  • Repeated episodes of pneumonia or bronchitis
  • Swelling of the neck and face


As cancer spreads other symptoms include:

  • Bone pain
  • Arm or leg weakness or numbness
  • Headache, dizziness or seizure
  • Jaundice (yellow coloring) of skin and eyes
  • Swollen lymph nodes in the neck or shoulder

Many different things can cause these symptoms and having any one of them does not mean you have cancer. It is very important to discuss any and all symptoms with your doctor as it may be a signal of other health issues. 

So What to Do?

  • Know and understand what your body might be telling you! It is multiple symptoms that is cause for concern
  • Become better Educated about Lung Cancer
  • If concerned, make an appointment to see your Doctor and be sure he/she understands your complete symptoms
  • If you are not satisfied, get a second opinion, sooner than later. Lung Cancer spreads very quickly
  • Think about what you Eat, Exercise often and keeping your Immune System up is still the best defense against Lung Cancer
  • Live Life every day possible. There are a lot of illnesses in the world, in addition to Lung Cancer
